Actress TANJAREEN Recurs on Two Shows: Season 4 of Bounce TV’s ‘FAMILY TIME’
and Freeform’s Upcoming Drama ‘FAMOUS IN LOVE’
LOS ANGELES (Oct. 7, 2016) – Actress TANJAREEN THOMAS is set to recur on not one, but two television shows. This fall Tanjareen returns to her fourth season of Bounce TV’s hit comedy FAMILY TIME and then next spring on Freeform’s highly-anticipated drama FAMOUS IN LOVE starring Bella Thorne.
The Stallworth family is back with the fourth season of the popular urban sitcom FAMILY TIME, which kicked-off on October 4th. This family-oriented series is led by Tony and Lisa (Omar Gooding and Angell Conwell), who hit the lottery and went from “the hood to being all good!” Tanjareen steps back into the chaos once again as Lisa’s feisty sister ‘Rachel’, a fan favorite who kicks-up her sassy, smack-talking, fun lesbian ways even further this season. Tanjareen shares, “I think Rachel gets to be slightly more open about her sexuality this season than in the previous ones. I enjoyed that freedom and I think the fans will, too. With so many shows being canceled in their first season, I’m so grateful and honored to be on a show that’s made it to season 4.” And this new season continues to bring the funny with guest stars like Glenn Plummer, AJ Johnson, Gloria Govan, R&B singer Chante Moore, and comedians Clayton Thomas, Rodney Perry, and Michael Colyar. Fans can catch FAMILY TIME Tuesday nights on the Bounce TV channel, or binge watch all the episodes for free on the Bounce TV website (http://bouncetv.com) and on the new Bounce TV app.
Then in April 2017, Tanjareen can be seen on Freeform (formally ABC Family) in the upcoming drama FAMOUS IN LOVE, starring Bella Thorne. The 10-episode premiere season comes from Serle and I. Marlene King (Pretty Little Liars) and follows an ordinary college student (Thorne) who gets her big break in a Hollywood blockbuster and must navigate through an undeniable chemistry with her two co-leads, while uncovering the truth about a missing popstar. Tanjareen plays ‘Brandy’, someone from Jordan's (Keith Powers) past who holds a secret over him. Further details about how Tanjareen fits into the storyline are still being kept under wraps, but it’s sure to be juicy.
This Inglewood, CA native is also currently the voice of the sassy 'Egg' in over 15 animated Denny's Grand Slams ads; and she recently hit the big screen starring in Christopher Nolen’s rom-com feature, Zodiac Sign, alongside Caryn Ward and Tammy Townsend. Tanjareen also drew admirers from the award-winning comedy web series she produced entitled, The Celibate Nympho Chronicles, starring Malik Yoba and Tony Rock, which follows the dating life Tweets of a sex-crazed model as she tries to hold-out for Mr. Right.
Tanjareen’s other credits include the feature films Miss March, Love For Sale, Johnson Family Vacation, and National Lampoon’s Cattle Call; and television shows Sex Sent Me to the E.R., Tosh.0, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Without A Trace, Days of Our Lives, Girlfriends, According to Jim, and The Sarah Silverman Program. Star of Cinemax Series "Zane's The Jump Off" TANJAREEN Declares Black Love Shouldn't Be Taboo
April 28, 2013
Hollywood, CA – Actress TANJAREEN MARTIN proudly brings her brand of sexy to the new highly-addictive original series, “Zane’s The Jump Off,” currently airing on Cinemax.
The show comes from celebrated and best-selling erotica author Zane, and follows five frat brothers as they tackle the growing pains of life and love. Packed full of steamy scenes and shocking plot twists, Tanjareen bares it all as a Miami sportscaster who knows better than to fall in love with her longtime friend and NFL star, Dmitri, nicknamed ‘The Jump Off’ (played by Amin Joseph of GI Joe 2 and The Expendables). The series also stars Joe Torry (Poetic Justice, Def Comedy Jam) and Gregg Wayans (nephew of Keenan Ivory Wayans)
With the recent craze in mainstream erotica, Tanjareen is delighted to help bring this project to television audiences. She explains, “I’m uber-excited about this series. I find it funny that men are glorified for such sexy roles, yet it's seen as taboo for women (especially women of color) to be so free and open on camera. I accepted the role in ‘Zane’s The Jump Off’ to show that Black love and sex are a beautiful thing that shouldn’t be frowned upon…And natural healthy breasts are something a woman can be proud of, no matter what the size.”
Tanjareen was fortunate enough to film two TV series at the same time. Besides the Zane drama, she is also a regular on the TV-One sitcom “Family Time”, created by Bentley Kyle Evans (creator of "The Jamie Foxx Show", "Martin", and "Love That Girl"). Earning high-praise, the series swept the LA Web Series Festival awards earning Outstanding Dramedy Series, Outstanding Writing in a Dramedy, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Dramedy (Tanjareen Martin), and Outstanding Guest Actor (Tony Rock).
This Inglewood, California native has built a solid resume on the big and small screen, as well as in the radio industry. Tanjareen Martin - Tough, Foxy and Fun
By Rych McCain/ [email protected]
Photos by Jordin Althaus
She’s tall, gorgeous, talented and can physically swing a mean punch in a boxing ring. We are talking about actress Tanjareen Martin. Having been born and reared in Inglewood, California, Martin caught the acting bug early at age six when she played a gingerbread man in her school’s production of “Hansel & Gretal.” While growing up, Martin honed her acting chops on stage in theatres in and round Inglewood. She has always been a natural “social butterfly” in that she was escorted to her Junior High School Prom by film director Rick F. Famuyiwa and was crowned Homecoming Queen at California State University at Northridge, CA., where she pledged to the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and graduated with a B.A. Degree in TV/Film Production and Management. Martin is a member of The Vegan Vixens which is a female modeling troop of animal rights activists.
Immediately after graduation, Martin became an intern at Paramount Pictures working as a talent coordinator for The Leeza Gibbons Show. She was asked to model five bikinis on Leeza and received her SAG card. After moving around the Paramount lot to a couple other shows, Martin broke into acting booking roles on “NYPD Blue,” “The Steve Harvey show,” “Girlfriends,” “Strong Medicine,” and even the daytime soap “Days of Our Lives,” to mention some as well as films including “Johnson Family Vacation” and “Halloween House Party.”
This year Martin was in two movies i.e., “Miss March” and “White People’s Problems.” She co-starred and co-produced the movie “Love For Sale” witch aired on BET recently and is now available on DVD. As mentioned at the top of this feature, Martin was known as “The Sting Machine” while boxing for the TV Show “Perfect 10 Model Boxing” and won her matches convincingly. How did she get into boxing? Martin laughs, “They paid me to train to learn how to box and they paid me to fight. And after the season was over, the network that it was on HB Net didn’t pick it up for the next season but I kept on fighting for another show and now I know how to beat people up.” Martin said that she has even been challenged to wrestle but wrestling is something she doesn’t do.
Is Martin an actor who is more involved with making projects happen via producing etc., as opposed to sticking with the traditional route of her agent sending her out on call? She responds, “I can’t say I’m more into the producer part. I’ve only produced one feature so far and maybe two or three shorts. But I’ve gotten way more credits in front of the camera but I have a degree behind the camera. So I think I’m just pretty much a by any means necessary type of person and from here on out, anything that I do I will definitely have something to do with the production side of it.”
